FASHIONABLE PURSES WITH BEADS (2)

The concept of bead purses is not very modern one. It also existed in the era of our grandparents. Now various types of beads are available at market, so we have wide variety of designs now. You can take the basic lessons of bead work from your grand mothers. Or you can follow my series on bead made purses.

INGRADIENTS:-

1. Apart from needle and nylon thread, the main is round shaped crystal like or pearl like medium size (i.e. standard size or which size is the most common) beads of one color according to your choice. Buy approximate 150-200 gm.

2. Satin cloth (for binding).

3. Sponge and board. You don’t have to buy these. Just collect it from the inside of newly bought shirt.

4. Chain of bag and cotton thread.

5. White color crystal like or pearl like beads of water drop shape having a hole on above (side hole) not in the middle. (Optional)

COLOR OPTION:-

1. Select any color of your choice or a match of your dress.

2. Pearl white, crystal white, crystal black, vibrant red, crystal gold beads look very glamorous.

3. Original crystals are very costly. You can buy what is available at market to design your cloth or costume jewellery. These are made of plastic or glass.

PROCESS:-

1ST PART:-

Take the four fold nylon thread and needle in it and tie the two or three knots between the two ends in the same place so that it will not pass through the hole of the beads.

1. Take six beads and make a ring. (Take six beads in the thread and then pass the needle through the hole of the bead immediate next to the knot. Then pass it through one or two more beads of the ring. Thus a ring is formed.)

2. Then take five beads and make another ring adjoining to the first ring. (As you already have one bead in the ring.) Then make another ring taking five beads. Thus make 12 rings in total in first line.

3. Now you can see a notch both sides at the joining of two rings. Take the thread in the side of notch and take four beads to make a ring. (As you already have two beads in the notch.) You have to make rings ahead of the first ring of the second line adjoining to the first line. But before that take the thread in the back side of the ring among the notch of first rings of first line and second line. Then take four beads and make a ring. This ring looks like a bit outside of the first line. Then come back in the previous position and start to make rings with three beads. Thus make thirteen rings.

4. Make 14 rings in the third line above it following the same direction.

5. Make 15 rings in the fourth line.

6. Make 14 rings in the fifth line. This time make rings among the notches of the line of 15 rings.

7. Make 13 rings and 12 rings in the sixth line and the seventh line respectively.



SECOND PART:-

Prepare another part identical to the first part following same method.

THIRD PART:-

Now it will look like a little long hexagon.

1. Put one figure on a board and mark its outline with a pencil. Then remove the figure and make a straight hexagon from a little inside with the help of scale and pencil.

2. Cut the board accordingly.

3. Cut another piece of same shape from the board and two pieces of sponges of the same shape and same size.

4. Measure the length of five sides of the hexagon. One side should not be counted.

5. Cut 3 or 4 inches wide sponge of measured length. Then roll it in round shape. Take the thread and sew it so that the round sponge can’t be unfolded.

6. Put one piece of hexagonal board and a sponge on a satin cloth and cut the cloth in such a way that it can cover both sides of hexagon and some extra for sewing.

7. Fold that extra portion into the board and sponge and sew it from outside. Thus bind another piece of board and sponge.

8. Cut proper size of cloth for the long round sponge and bind it.

9. Take the beads figure and stitch it with the hexagonal board very strongly.

10. Then join the two boards with the two sides of long pipe shaped figure in such a way that it can be the shape of a bag with one open end.

11. Stitch the chain of bag with the two sides of open end and now your purse is ready to use.

FOURTH PART:-

Decorate your purse with crystal flowers or drop shaped beads according to your choice. E.g.

Thread the drop shaped beads with the beads of the purse in the following manner –

1. 3 beads in the 4th, 5th, 6th rings and 3 beads in the 10th, 11th, 12th rings of the forth line respectively.

2. 2 beads in the 4th, 5th rings and 2 beads in the 10th, 11th rings of the third line respectively.

3. 1 bead in the 4th ring and 1 bead in the 10th ring of the second line respectively.
